Tour Will Kick Off in June

She & Him (Zooey Deschanel + M. Ward) have announced a new tribute tour in honor of The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson. The tour will kick off in June at the Paramount Theatre in Denver and conclude in September in Vienna at Wolf Trap Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets will go on sale this Friday (Apr. 1) at 10 a.m. local time. More
Long Promised Road Original Soundtrack Due Out This Friday via Lakeshore

Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys and Jim James of My Morning Jacket have shared a new song, “Right Where I Belong.” It is to be featured on the original soundtrack for the film Long Promised Road, a documentary about Wilson’s life and career. The soundtrack will also feature unreleased songs and alternate versions of classics from Wilson. The film, directed by Brent Wilson (no relation to the film’s subject), is out now, and the soundtrack will be out this Friday (Nov. 26) via Lakeshore. More

In some version or another, a film adaptation of Brian Wilson’s life has been kicking around Hollywood for a while. Luckily, it eventually fell into producer Claire Rudnik Polstein’s lap. Along with director Bill Pohland and writer Oren Moverman, they have created Love & Mercy, a fun yet unconventional biopic that truly honors Brian Wilson’s enormous musical and cultural legacy without falling into the trap of overt glamorization. With the primary goal of evoking Brian Wilson’s spirit and honestly retelling his life story, the filmmakers and the actors were able to work closely with Brian and his wife Melinda Ledbetter throughout.
