This Is the Kit, the Paris-based project led by British-born singer/songwriter Kate Stables, are releasing a new Gruff Rhys-produced album, Careful of Your Keepers, this Friday via Rough Trade. Now they have shared its third single, “Stuck in a Room.” They have also shared a video of the band performing the song live last month at the Minack Theatre in Cornwall, England, which is an outdoor theater on the side of a cliff overlooking the sea at the very southern tip of England. Beloved Welsh band Super Furry Animals once had another lead singer, Rhys Ifans, who would go on to become a famous actor starring in such films as Notting Hill, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, The Amazing Spider-Man, and last year’s biggest movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home. Now the band have shared their first ever recorded song, the previously unreleased “Of No Fixed Identity,” which features Ifans on lead vocals. The song is only available on Bandcamp and only for one week. Some proceeds will benefit the Save the Severn campaign. More

Super Furry Animals and Neon Neon frontman Gruff Rhys has teamed up with Tony Da Gatorra, and will release a collaborative album titled The Terror of Cosmic Loneliness. It is a limited U.K. release for now, due out there on July 26, with U.S. release plans TBA. Rhys was a huge fan of Gatorra, who is a Brazilian TV and VCR repairman (who still uses VCR’s?), “musical freedom fighter,” and the inventor of his own ‘Gatorra’ instrument (which is described as “part drum machine, part guitar”).
