Australian singer/songwriter/guitarist Courtney Barnett has surprise released a new live album, MTV Australia Unplugged Live In Melbourne. It was recorded on October 22 in her hometown and features the previously unreleased new song “Untitled (Play It On Repeat),” a duet with New Zealand singer/songwriter Marlon Williams (a cover of “Not Only I” by the Australian band Seeker Lover Keeper), and ends with a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “So Long, Marianne.” More

It had been suspected that Cohen had been sick, due to statements he had given in recent interviews about being “ready to die,” but no official cause of death was stated when his passing was announced. The reason I chose this record was because when I was in New York I saw his exhibition at the Jewish Museum. Which is just a genius installation. Within that was a series of around 300 self-portraits. I don’t think he started making self-portraits until the last 20 years of his life. More
