The music community has really stepped up when it comes to raising money for those affected by the recent devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, from various benefit concerts and compilations to the millions raised during the Grammy Awards telecast. Los Angeles Rising is another compilation album added to the cause and it features Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker covering The Mamas and the Papas’ “California Dreamin’” and a new PJ Harvey song, “The Red River,” along with previously unreleased tracks by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Primal Scream, Grinderman, Gary Numan, and more. More

PJ Harvey has announced the release of a boxset compilation, B-Sides, Demos and Rarities, which will be out on CD and vinyl on November 4 via UMe/Island. The compilation features 59 tracks, all of which were either previously unavailable digitally or never-before-released. Harvey has shared the first EP from the compilation, which features a previously unreleased demo version of “Dry,” an unreleased demo of “Missed,” and “Somebody’s Down, Somebody’s Name,” which is now available digitally for the first time. PJ Harvey is releasing a new album, The Hope Six Demolition Project, April 15 via Vagrant. Previously the single “The Wheel” was shared and now the song has a video. Filmmaker and photo journalist Seamus Muprhy directed the video, which was filmed in Kosovo and clearly made with a photo journalist’s eye, as Murphy captures such details as a little girl in a heart sweatshirt in a sea of riot police, among many other striking images.
