Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie and Canvasback Music/Atlantic Records have announced the release of a Yoko Ono tribute album, Ocean Child: Songs of Yoko Ono, which will be out on February 18. Curated by Gibbard, the album features 14 covers of Ono tracks from artists such as Sharon Van Etten, Death Cab for Cutie, US Girls, Japanese Breakfast, Jay Som, and Thao. In 2009 Wes Anderson directed the delightful stop-motion animated film Fantastic Mr. Fox, an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s children’s novel that starred the voices of George Clooney and Meryl Streep. Since then he’s made two acclaimed live action films, 2012’s Moonrise Kingdom and 2014’s The Grand Budapest Hotel, but now he has returned to stop-motion animation for his new film, Isle of Dogs, which is due out March 23, 2018 via Fox Searchlight. It’s not due out until January 22, 2016 (is this the first notable album to get a confirmed 2016 release date?) and it’s titled Yes, I’m a Witch Too, making it the sequel 2007’s Yes, I’m a Witch. Like that record, this one is a collaborative album. Every song is a collaboration between Ono and a different artist. This one includes collaborations with Death Cab for Cutie, tUnE-yArDs, Sparks, Peter Bjorn and John, Cibo Matto, Portugal the Man, Miike Snow, Penguin Prison, and of course her son, Sean Lennon, among others.
