Let’s get one thing straight—Spirit Animal isn’t the kind of band that needs help. The New York psych rockers can create a manic electro-rock tune just fin on their own, thank you very much. Which is perhaps why this Big Black Delta remix is so cool. More a friendly shove in another direction (darker, deeper, weirder) than a shameless retooling, Jon Bates doesn’t so much as dismantle the party and create it in his own image as he does turn up the volume and dim the light.
