Amanda Palmer Takes on Radiohead in New Ukulele Covers Album

Amanda Palmer Plays the Popular hits of Radiohead on Her Magical Ukulele

Jun 10, 2010 Amanda Palmer

Continuing to celebrate her split from Road Runner, Amanda Palmer (The Dresden Dolls/Evelyn Evelyn) is offering up an EP of ukulele Radiohead covers. Available July 17th, the album, titled Amanda Palmer Plays the Popular hits of Radiohead on Her Magical Ukulele, will be available via Bandcamp for the suggested donation of 84 cents per track, with 54 cents going to Radiohead for legal use of their songs.

In addition to downloads, Palmer will also offer several bundles with extras ranging from vinyl (limited to 1,000 pieces), hand-painted ukuleles, and personal phone calls.

Says Palmer via press release, of the project, “I’m slaphappy with freedom…and this is the perfect project to celebrate with. I’m really proud of the way this record wound up sounding…it’s actually a lot more emotional than I expected. Radiohead songs almost play themselves because the songwriting is so genius, and the ukulele is perfect for laying that genius bare. I tried to strip the songs down as far as possible without destroying them.”
