Buddy Holly Tribute Out in June
To Feature Covers by My Morning Jacket, Paul McCartney, The Black Keys, Modest Mouse, and others
Apr 28, 2011 Paul McCartney
To this day Buddy Holly is one of the great what-could-have-been personas in rock and roll. Dying tragically in a plane crash at the age of 22, the young music artist left an immeasurable impact on pop music with such classics as “Peggy Sue,” “That’ll Be the Day,” and “Oh Boy.” Paying tribute to Holly’s influence, an all-star list of talent has been pulled together for an upcoming compilation entitled, Rave On Buddy Holly. Scheduled for release June 28th via Fantasy Records/Concord Music Group, the record will include contributions from My Morning Jacket, The Black Keys, Modest Mouse, Cee-Lo Gree, Paul McCartney, Lou Reed, Patti Smith, Nick Lowe, Fionna Apple, The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas, Florence and the Machine, Cee-Lo Green, She & Him, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O, and Karen Elson.
