British hip-hop/electronic dance band Stereo MC’s have announced their first U.S. shows in 24 years. The band last performed on our shores in 2001, but have lined up three American shows for next January, with more to be announced. The band are also expected to release a new album in 2025. Check out the tour dates below.
The band’s current line-up still features either founding or long term members: Rob Birch (Rob B), Nick Hallam, Cath Coffey, and Tansay Omar. Drummer Owen If died in 2022. Stereo MC’s biggest album was 1992’s Connected, which was fueled by its iconic title track and charted as high as #2 on the UK album charts. The band’s last album was 2011’s Emperor’s Nightingale.
Hallam had this to say about the tour and new music, in a press release: “There’s a lot of new music that’s being developed as we go, some club orientated in keeping with our label and recent outlook, and some more in the Stereo MC’s known mold. When the two merge as one we will be there.”
Birch adds: “There are many influences in the melting pot being shaped by this time we live in. In the same way as we look back for inspiration, we are charged by the present and that’s how we work: combining old methods with modern technology. The more diverse our music becomes the happier I feel.”
