The Merge Records Companion Cotinues 20th Anniversary Celebration

Merge Records is celebrating their China (20th) anniversary with style. First there was their festival and we ran a feature on the label’s history in our Spring issue. Now the Durham, North Carolina independent record company is releaseing a huge, 350-page CD-sized volume, called The Merge Records Companion: A Visual Discography of the First Twenty Years.

As previously reported, Death Cab for Cuite member Ben Gibbard and Son Volter Jay Farrar have collaborated on an album inspired by beat poet Jack Kerouac titled One Fast Move Or I’m Gone: Kerouac’s Big Sur—due out October 20th. Klaxons Announce Suicide-covering Single

As reported by NME, the Mercury Prize-winning Klaxons have announced a new single. While the band still hasn’t released a follow up to their 2007 debut Myths of the Near Future, they—along with notable artists such as Grinderman, Mogwai, Iggy Pop, Spiritualized, Julian Cope, Vincent Gallo and Liars—are set to contribute to a series of releases honoring Suicide frontman Alan Vega’s 70th birthday.
