Andrew Lincoln left The Walking Dead last year, but he wasn’t killed off. Instead, the last we saw of Rick Grimes he was being taken away in a helicopter and his friends and family never discovered what happened to him. When he left the show the producers said they would be bringing Lincoln back as Grimes for a series of three TV movies. Today it was announced at The Walking Dead‘s Comic-Con panel, as hosted by Chris Hardwick, that the movies would actually be released in movie theaters via Universal Pictures. A brief teaser trailer that showed no actual footage from the movies promised: “Rick Grimes Returns Only In Theaters.” Watch the teaser below. The first movie has no title or release date, as of yet.
