Today the 2011 Barclaycard Mercury Prize shortlist was announced. As per usual it’s a mixed bag, from the predictably solid Adele, to the much-hyped James Blake, to names such as Gwilym Simcock and Tinie Tempah—who you don’t hear much about stateside. We’re particularly happy to see Under the Radar favorites Elbow (who won for previous album, The Seldom Seen Kid), Everything Everything, and Anna Calvi in the field of contenders.
Check out the full list of nominees below. The award (and accompanying £20k check) will be handed out September 6 in a ceremony with Jools Holland.
