As signs were pointing to over the last 24 hours, Arcade Fire have announced their new album, Everything Now, which is due out July 28 via their new label Columbia. They have also shared a video for the album’s title track and announced a tour. An anthemic song about our over-materialist culture seems appropriate listening on the day President Donald Trump has pulled America out of the Paris climate change accords and the video fittingly seems to be about the end of the world, with Terminator 2 type images of missiles being launched as children watch on and shots of burning billboards. Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter and Pulp’s Steve Mackey produced the album with the band, with co-production by Markus Dravus. Below is the “Everything Now” video, followed by the album’s cover art and the band’s upcoming tour dates.

The album was recorded in three different countries: at Boombox Studios in New Orleans, Sonovox Studios in Montreal, and Gang Recording Studio in Paris. It will be released on CD, cassette, and heavyweight black vinyl LP, as well as digitally. The vinyl version “will feature 20 different artwork variants, each bearing the album title in one of 20 different languages.”

In January Arcade Fire released a brand new song, “I Give You Power,” that featured the guest vocals of soul legend and civil rights activist Mavis Staples. Its release the day before President Donald Trump’s inauguration was probably no accident, especially as all proceeds from the song are being donated to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The tracklist for the album hasn’t been released yet, so there’s no word on whether or not “I Give You Power” is on the album. The band’s last full-length was 2013’s Reflektor.

As Pitchfork reports, Arcade Fire performed a surprise set at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound Festival today, as a warm up to their headlining set at the festival tomorrow night. They performed “Everything Now,” as well as another new song, “Creature Comfort.” Watch fan video of the “Creature Comfort” performance below.
