Arcade Fire, Florence and the Machine, and Black Keys Nominated For Grammys

Mumford & Sons, Okkervil River, and Goldfrapp, and Gorillaz Also Receive Nods

Last night, this year’s Grammy nominations were announced. Among the bevy of expected commercial artists (Hello Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Eminem) a fair number of Under the Radar-friendly artists received recognition for their accomplishments.

The Best New Artist category sees Under the Radar favorites Florence and the Machine and Mumford & Sons competing against teen titan Justin Bieber (pause for editorial sigh).

Arcade Fire—who seemingly have claimed 2010 for their own—have also claimed nods for Album of the Year, Best Rock Performance, and best Alternative album—where they’ll be competing against Black Keyes, Vampire Weekend, and Band of Horses.

Meanwhile Goldfrapp shimmed their way into both Best Dance Recording category and Best Electronic/Dance album, while Gorillaz scored a nod for their “Stylo” video and “Orchestral” intro.

Even way down at the bottom of the list (who knew they gave a Grammy for best liner notes?) indies got some love, with Okkervil River’s Will Sheff getting recognition for “True Love cast Out All Evil.”

Check out the full list of nominees here.
