Arcade Fire seem on the verge of announcing their new album, based on all their activity in the last 24 hours. Yesterday they kind of released a disco-influenced new song, “Everything Now.” Currently it’s only available on 12-inch at the Primavera Sound festival in Spain. A video of the vinyl record being played in a Barcelona record store briefly surfaced yesterday, before being swiftly taken down on copyright grounds. Arcade Fire tube reports that “Everything Now” will be broadcast on BBC Radio 1 tonight at 7:30 PM U.K. time.

Then last night Variety reported that the band has left indie label Merge after three albums and is joining recent major label transplants Grizzly Bear (Warp to RCA) and The War on the Drugs (Secretly Canadian to Atlantic) by signing a two-album deal with Columbia. Now the band have shared a mysterious live stream that shows a shot of Death Valley, California (check it out at www.live.everythingnow.com). There is also a new “Everything Now” Instagram account (see its first post below).

In January Arcade Fire released a brand new song, “I Give You Power,” that featured the guest vocals of soul legend and civil rights activist Mavis Staples. Its release the day before President Donald Trump’s inauguration was probably no accident, especially as all proceeds from the song are being donated to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The band’s last full-length was 2013’s Reflektor. Check out the band’s tour dates below, followed again by “I Give You Power.”
