“The first thing I usually do is take all my clothes off and throw up all over the place.” That’s how Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler says his songwriting process starts in a new video for Clickhole. “Sometimes I do kill a dog when I’m writing a song and I do not apologize for that,” Butler shockingly admits later in the video. He also reveals that Paul McCartney writes some of his songs. Of course Clickhole is an often hilarious website that makes fun of the Internet and especially clickbait articles (it’s like The Onion on speed). And somehow they convinced Butler to keep a straight face while saying stuff like: “You know, you can really write a song anywhere. One time I wrote a song on top of a grape.” Watch the video below.
Arcade Fire released their new album, Everything Now, last month via their new label Columbia.

Arcade Fire had previously shared a video for the album’s title track, “Everything Now,” announced a tour, and shared a funny fake cereal ad/teaser video for another song from the album, “Creature Comfort,” as well as a full on video for “Creature Comfort” and an annotated version of the “Creature Comfort” video. Then there were videos for two other new songs, “Signs of Life” and “Electric Blue.”
Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter and Pulp’s Steve Mackey produced Everything Now with the band, with co-production by Markus Dravus. The album was recorded in three different countries: at Boombox Studios in New Orleans, Sonovox Studios in Montreal, and Gang Recording Studio in Paris.
