Animal Collective member Avey Tare (aka David Michael Portner) has announced a new EP, Conference of Birds / Birds in Disguise, and shared three songs from it, its whole first vinyl side: “Midnight Special,” “Red Light Water Show,” and “Disc One.” Conference of Birds / Birds in Disguise is due out on 12-inch and digitally on December 5 via Domino. Listen to the three songs below via one Natalia Stuyk-directed video. Also below are the EP’s tracklist and cover art.

Avey Tare cryptically had this to say about the EP in a press release: “Early mornings at the bar. Deep conversations with a stranger. A Disney Night parade gone wrong. The White Album is 2 CDs.”

Avery Tare released a new solo album, Cows on Hourglass Pond, back in March via Domino. That was followed in July by the K.C. Yours EP.

Cows on Hourglass Pond was the follow-up to 2017’s Eucalyptus and was recorded by Portner between January and March 2018 at Laughing Gas in Asheville, NC. It was recorded on a Tascam 48 half-inch reel-to-reel tape machine. Then Portner and Adam McDaniel mixed the album at Drop of Sun in Asheville, NC.

Conference of Birds / Birds in Disguise EP Tracklist:

1. Midnight Special
2. Red Light Water Show
3. Disc One
4. Enjoy the Change
5. Uncle Donut
