Season 2 Premieres May 12 on Netflix

Aziz Ansari
Master of None, Aziz Ansari‘s brilliant Netflix comedy that took on race, romantic relationships, dealing with aging parents, and coping with modern life in general was Under the Radar‘s #1 TV show of 2015. We were deprived in 2016, with no new episodes, but Ansari and Netflix recently announced that season 2 premieres on May 12 and shared a brief teaser trailer for the season. Now the first full trailer for the season has been shared. The trailer doesn’t feature any dialogue, but is cut to a song seemingly in Italian and features Ansari travelling around Europe, returning to New York, and going out on various dates. John Legend makes a brief appearance playing piano at a party. Watch it below, followed by some new posters for the season.
The YouTube description for the trailer describes season 2 as such: “After traveling abroad, Dev (Aziz Ansari) returns to New York to take on challenges in his personal and family life, a new career opportunity, and a complex, developing relationship with someone very meaningful to him.”
Ansari co-wrote all but one of season 1’s 10 episodes and also directed two of them. The show is loosely based on Ansari’s own life experiences, but unlike similar comedies Louie and Curb Your Enthusiasm, Ansari is not playing himself but instead is a character named Dev, who’s a struggling 30-year-old actor in New York. Ansari’s real life parents play his mom and dad on the show and Noel Wells played his girlfriend in season 1. [Spoiler alert if you haven’t seen season 1.] The European setting would make sense since at the end of season 1 Dev decided to move to Italy to study pasta-making.
