Band of Horses has announced that they will be releasing their new album, Why Are You OK?, in June, according to Entertainment Weekly. The album was produced by Grandaddy’s Jason Lytle and is the follow up to 2012’s Mirage Rock. The band conducted a scavenger hunt during SXSW last week to tease the album by scattering polaroids around the city labelled #YRUOK. The tracklist hasn’t been announced yet, but EW reports that the opening track, “Dull Times,” is seven minutes long.
Frontman Ben Bridwell told EW that he wrote many of the demos for the new record in the middle of the night so that he could devote time to his four children by day. “I work all night and then take them to school in the morning,” he said. “I’m the fucking scariest dad in the school, I’m sure.” Bridwell also said that Rick Rubin was involved in helping make the album.
The band previously shared a Christmas song that they worked on with Lytle.
