Beck and Charlotte Gainsbourg Collaborate on New Album
Her Forthcoming Effort IRM Gets a Little Help From Beck
Aug 28, 2009
Charlotte Gainsbourg
According to this news item on Pitchfork, Beck’s rumored album collaboration with Charlotte Gainsbourg is set for a January release on Because Music. The album will be released under Gainsbourg’s name and entitled IRM, which in French translates to MRI. Beck’s involvement in the record was very hands on, he wrote all the music, cowrote the lyrics, as well producing and mixing the album. Gainsbourg worked with a variety of collaborators on her previous effort, 2006’s 5:55. That album featured music by Air, lyrics by Jarvis Cocker and The Divine Comedy’s Neil Hannon, and production from Nigel Godrich. This time it appears to be a full-on Beck/Gainsbourg collaboration. Beck’s father, David Campbell, actually arranged the strings for 5:55.
On his own, Beck’s been updating his website on a daily basis with fun media and has another Record Club cover project due out next Thursday.
