Beck released a new album, Colors, last October via Capitol. Now he has shared a video for “Fix Me,” in partnership with the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). Fittingly it features some dogs, as well as a toddler. Brook Linder directed the video, which was shot in the hills of Yamagata, Japan. Watch it below and visit www.aspca.org/helpanimals to donate.
Linder had this to say about the video in a press release: “There’s something really special happening in the mountains of Yamagata, and we were lucky enough to enter Mame’s world for two afternoons in November. That home is heaven on Earth. One of the dogs, Qoo, and I had a special connection -I think he’s my great-grandfather reincarnated… or something. He looked into my soul.”
In June 2016 Beck released a brand new song, “Wow,” and announced plans to release an as yet to be titled new album sometime via Capitol (it was originally due out last October, but was pushed back to a TBA date). “Wow” followed “Dreams,” a standalone single that was released in 2015, and “Wow” matches that track’s poppy vibe, sounding more like something from his great 1999 album Midnight Vultures rather than his last album, 2014’s more subdued Morning Phase, which won the Grammy for Album of the Year. “Dreams” is featured on Colors but in a new mix. Beck later shared a lyric video for “Dear Life” and a full on video for “Up All Night.”
