Plus Kubrick-Inspired Video

British indie alt pop/rock band Black Honey have released their latest single “Psycho.” The track arrives with a visually striking Clockwork Orange-inspired music video directed by Harv Frost.

Lead singer Izzy B. Phillips provides insight into the track’s complex themes, explaining: “‘Psycho’ is a nonsensical, down the rabbit hole feeling of being a voyeur in something that feels really surreal. It’s about wondering if this life is ‘the movie’ maybe it’s written badly. A bit of nihilism and escape with a bigger look at the mundane, the psychotic and the existential”

The accompanying music video depicts Phillips trapped in a dystopian facility where prisoners are controlled through an endless flood of artificial realities. Strapped into a chair, her character is force-fed fabricated experiences until becoming numb. As the narrative progresses, she discovers a control hub - a miniature model of reality - and ultimately breaks free.

Black Honey has been steadily building their reputation in the independent British music scene. Their previous two albums have both reached the UK Top 10 (at #7 and #6 respectively), and Phillips’s songwriting has always drawn inspiration from different film directors - from Tarantino to Wes Anderson, and now seemingly Stanley Kubrick.

UK Fans can catch the band live during their April 2025 shows:

  • April 15th: Manchester Night & Day
  • April 16th: Brighton Pattern
  • April 17th: London Omeara
