Blood Orange (aka Dev Hynes) has announced a new album, Negro Swan. It’s due out August 24 via Domino. Below are the album’s cover and a teaser for the album. No new songs have been shared as of yet and the tracklist is also still forthcoming. But below are some tour dates and a statement from Hynes.
The album is follow-up to 2016’s acclaimed Freetown Sound. Back in February he shared two new songs, “Christopher & 6th” and “June 12th,” that he said would not be on the next album.
Hynes had this to say about the album in a press release: “My newest album is an exploration into my own and many types of black depression, an honest look at the corners of black existence, and the ongoing anxieties of queer/people of color. A reach back into childhood and modern traumas, and the things we do to get through it all. The underlying thread through each piece on the album is the idea of HOPE, and the lights we can try to turn on within ourselves with a hopefully positive outcome of helping others out of their darkness.”
