Blur Talks Unreleased Song/Potential 2012 Tour
Plus: Hear Songs From Albarn’s Opera
Nov 03, 2011 Blur
Are Thom Yorke and Damon Albarn having some kind of “who can get mentioned the most in the indie press” contest? Well, if so, point to Albarn. Today the busy musician (see, Rocket Juice and the Moon, The Good the Bad and the Queen, Gorillaz—and probably a few to be named later) announced he’s been palling around with old band, Blur.
Apparently, Albarn and the Blur gang recorded a song earlier this year with poet Michael Horovitz in response to the news that the Notting Hill Carnival might be canceled. And then it wasn’t. And then the track lost its relevancy. And then the band decided never to release it. You know, same ol’ rock ‘n’ roll story.
While the track may be lost forever, Albarn hasn’t ruled out the idea of a Blur tour in 2012. Of course, there’s always the question when and how he’s going to schedule such an endeavor. Albarn is currently hot on the promotional trail for his new opera, Dr. Dee. Head over to BBC 6 to hear a few cuts from the project.
