Blur to Debut New Songs Via Twitter
Playing “Under the Westway” and “The Puritan” On July 2

Other then their scheduled performance in Hyde Park celebrating the closing ceremonies of the Olympic games, Blur have made it near impossible over the past few months to make sense of their own are-they-aren’t-they/will-they-won’t-they existence as a band. Continuing to toy with the emotions of their fans the UK foursome have announced that they will debut two brand new songs, “Under the Westway” and “The Puritan” on an undisclosed London rooftop on Monday, July 2 at 6:15 BST.
The two new works will be able to be watched online through a live webcast on the band’s Twitter page. With an interview conducted between performances, both new tracks will be made available to download following the webcast, and will be sold as a 7’’ single Aug. 6.
In a video teaser for the gig, which you can watch below, bassist Alex James says the new songs works “showcase two completely different sides of Blur” and that even he doesn’t know what will happen with the band once the performance at Hyde Park is over, “whether this is the end, or the beginning of the next chapter.”
