Blur to Play Free Show in Brooklyn This Friday
First NYC Show in 15 Years to Feature Original Lineup
Apr 28, 2015 Blur
Britpop legends Blur are releasing their long awaited new album, The Magic Whip, today via Warner Bros. In honor of its release the band has announced a free concert to take place this Friday (May 1) at Music Hall of Williamsburg (66 North 6th Street, Brooklyn, NY). It’s the first NYC Blur show to feature the original lineup since 2000, as guitarist Graham Coxon left the band early in the recording of their last album, 2003’s Think Tank, and consequently didn’t tour that album. But all four members are now present and accounted for (Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James, and Dave Rowntree).
The event is part of the Converse Rubber Tracks Live music program. It’s an all-ages show and doors open at 5 PM, but you do have register for tickets in advance. Registration starts tomorrow (Wednesday, April 29) at 12 PM EST at Converse-Music.com/Blur. Entry will be based on a first come, first serve policy, dependant on venue capacity.
For those of you not in NYC, you can watch the band perform on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Thursday night.
