Brian Eno is releasing a new album, The Ship, tomorrow via Warp. Deadline reports that Amazon are close to a deal on producing the a new British sci-fi TV series, Strange New Things, and that Eno will provide the series’ “music and soundscapes.” Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland, Black Sea, 11.22.63) is directing and the project is an adaptation of Michel Faber’s 2014 novel The Book of Strange New Things.
Matt Charman is adapting the novel, which is about a British pastor named Peter Leigh who travels into deep space, taking him light years away from his wife back on Earth. The project is said to be epic in scale, but at its heart is a love story and is described as “Heart of Darkness in space.” The first season is expected to be 10 episodes long with a goal of there being more than one season.
