Blinded By the Light Soundtrack Out Now via Sony Legacy

Bruce Springsteen released a new solo album, Western Stars, back in June via Columbia. Now a previously unreleased Springsteen song, “I’ll Stand By You,” has been shared. It is taken from the soundtrack to Blinded By the Light, a new coming-of-age film about a British-Pakistani Muslim teenager living in England in 1987 whose life is changed when he discovers Springsteen’s music. Gurinder Chadha (Bend It Like Beckham) directed the film, which is due out in U.S. theaters August 16. The soundtrack came out today. Springsteen originally wrote “I’ll Stand By You” for possible inclusion in 2001’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, but it didn’t pan out. Listen to it below, followed by a trailer for the film.
Western Stars was Springsteen’s first studio album in five years, since 2014’s High Hopes. When Western Stars was released we posted an in-depth review of the album written by longtime Springsteen fan (and longtime Under the Radar writer) Chris Tinkham and you can read that here.
