Deadline reports that singer/actress/comedian Carrie Brownstein (Sleater-Kinney, Portlandia) is set to make her feature film directorial debut with a film entitled Fairy Godmother, for MGM. Brownstein has already directed episodes of Portlandia, Casual, and Idiotsitter, as well as the short film for KENZO, The Realest Real. Blogger/playwright Chiara Atik wrote the script for Fairy Godmother, which is her first screenplay. Deadline describes the movie as a “comic revisionist look at the classic Fairy Godmother tale.”
Deadline further describes the film’s plot as such: “When sought-after Fairy Godmother Faye is hired by a mind-bogglingly gorgeous teenage client, Kenzie, to find her true love with the hottest prince in the land, Faye finds herself facing an unfamiliar challenge when the prince starts falling for her instead.”
