Cat Power (aka Chan Marshall) released a new album, Wanderer, back in October 2018 via Domino. Now she has shared a video for the album’s “Horizon” and announced some new fall tour dates. Greg Hunt directed the video, which features Marshall performing the song, but also offers a window into other lives. Watch it below, followed by the tour dates.
Read our recent interview with Cat Power on Wanderer.
Previously Cat Power shared a video for Wanderer‘s short opening track (and title track), “Wanderer.” Then she shared the album’s first official single, “Woman,” via a video for the song. “Woman” featured Lana Del Rey on backing vocals and was one of our Songs of the Week. Then she shared another new track from the album, “Stay,” which is actually a cover of the Rihanna song from 2012 (originally written by Justin Parker and Mikky Ekko). It was shared via a Greg Hunt-directed video of Marshall performing the song at the Los Angeles studio of Rob Schnapf (who mixed Wanderer). Then she stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to perform “Woman,” with her backing band. Then she stopped by NPR Music to perform three songs as part of their Tiny Desk Concert series. She performed “Wanderer,” “Woman,” and 2006’s “The Moon.”
Marshall produced Wanderer herself and the album was written and recorded in Miami and Los Angeles over the course of the last few years. It is Marshall’s first album for Domino after spending most of her career on Matador.
