Chad Valley (aka British singer/musician/producer Hugo Manuel) is back with his sophomore album, Entirely New Blue. It’s due out October 2 via Cascine and now he’s shared the album’s first single, “True.” You can listen to it below.

Entirely New Blue is the follow-up to 2012’s excellent Young Hunger, which featured such special guests as Twin Shadow and Glasser. The new album is partly inspired by a romantic breakup, as much great art is. The album was written partly in London, where he lived for many years with his long-term girlfriend, and partly in his hometown of Oxford, where he returned to once the relationship ended.

“True” is pretty much everything you could want in a modern indie-dance-pop song, production wise. Manuel’s emotive vocals are partly disguised in auto-tune, but not so much that it’s annoying or distracting. Listen to “True” below, followed by Chad Valley’s upcoming tour dates.
