Chromatics Share “Shadow” Video and Performed the Song on “Twin Peaks” Last Night
Dear Tommy 2.0 Due Out Someday
May 22, 2017
Chromatics
Chromatics performed their previously shared single “Shadow” during last night’s premiere of Showtime’s Twin Peaks revival, performing the song in the show’s Roadhouse bar. Now they have shared a new video for “Shadow.” It features the band performing the song in front of Twin Peaks’ iconic red curtains. Rene and Radka directed the video, which was filmed on Valentine’s Day in Los Angeles. Musically, the song has a strong Twin Peaks/Julee Cruise vibe. Watch it below.
Chromatics were supposed to release a new full-length album, Dear Tommy, in 2015 (it was announced in December 2014). Despite several songs from the album being released, the album never saw the light of day, continually being promised as coming soon. Alexis Rivera, the manager for Chromatics’ frontman Johnny Jewel, recently revealed in a series of tweets that Jewel had a near-death experience in Hawaii on Christmas Day 2015 and afterwards he destroyed all copies of Dear Tommy in order to re-record it to better capture the sound he was going for.
Jewel also released a new solo album, Windswept, a couple of weeks back via his Italians Do It Better label. It features unreleased music from Jewel and his bands Chromatics and Desire, as well as collaborations with Glass Candy, Heaven, and Symmetry. The album also features music from Showtime’s return of Twin Peaks.
