Johnny Jewel and his band Chromatics are expected to release a new full-length album entitled Dear Tommy sometime this year, although no official release date has been announced yet so maybe it’ll be 2016 at this point. In the meantime, the band recently covered Cyndi Lauper’s 1980s classic “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” for a new fashion ad for MANGO’s fall/winter 2015 line that featured supermodels Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne. We only got to hear 30 seconds of the cover when the ad was released, but now we have a video for whole thing. In fact, we’ll be getting a lot more “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” as tomorrow Chromatics are releasing a maxi-single featuring seven different versions of the cover. One of those is a dub version and they’ve also shared a video for that.
Both videos feature singer Ruth Radelet dancing on the beach by Santa Monica Pier, although the dub version is more distorted. Johnny Jewel directed both clips, which you can watch below, followed by the single’s tracklist.
