Scottish electro-pop trio CHVRCHES have shared a brand new song, “Warning Call.” It was written for the new video game Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, an update of the 2008 game Mirror’s Edge. Frontwoman Lauren Mayberry wrote the lyrics from the perspective of the game’s main character, Faith, “a daring Runner who uncovers a hidden truth within the walls of the city of Glass,” as the game’s description describes her. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is due out June 7 in North America and June 9 in Europe on PS4, PC, and Xbox One. You can stream the song below (via Pitchfork), as well as a trailer for the game.

CHVRCHES’ Ian Cook commented on the song and game in a press release: “We were honored to be asked to contribute to the soundtrack for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst. The sound of CHVRCHES’ music resonates with the minimalist sci-fi dystopia of the Mirror’s Edge world, and we feel that the song complements the drama, emotion and empowering themes of Faith’s story.”

The band released their well-received second album, Every Open Eye, last year via Glassnote (it was #9 on Under the Radar‘s Top 100 Albums of 2015 list). CHVRCHES were on the cover of one of our print issues last year and you can read the in-depth 8-page 5,600-word cover story feature on the band here.
