Indie film Computer Chess has already opened in New York to rave reviews from The New York Times, Village Voice, The A.V. Club, NPR, and others. This Friday the drama is opening in Los Angeles and Under the Radar is sponsoring a premiere screening and exclusive after party.
The screening is at beloved West L.A. arthouse theater The Nuart this Friday, August 2, at 7:30 p.m. Anyone who buys tickets to that screening will be granted access to the after party at Karaoke Bleu. Director Andrew Bujalski will do a Q&A after the movie and will be in attendance at the after party and ready to sing karaoke. They’ll be free drinks and embarrassing sing-alongs; we’ll also be giving out 100 complimentary magazines at the party, 50 copies each of our last two issues.
Computer Chess is a black & white movie set at a 1980s computer chess tournament. Check out the trailer below.
So see a critically acclaimed movie, party with the director afterwards, and get some free drinks and magazines—sounds like a pretty great way to spend a Friday night in L.A.
The Landmark Nuart Theater is at 11272 Santa Monica Blvd., West Los Angeles, CA 90025.
Karaoke Bleu is on 2064 Sawtelle Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90025.
