Cursive Share New Song “It’s Gonna Hurt” and Announce Tour Dates
Vitriola Due Out October 5 via 15 Passenger
Sep 26, 2018 Cursive
Cursive are releasing a new album, Vitriola, on October 5 via the band’s own label, 15 Passenger. Previously they shared its first two singles, “Life Savings” and “Under the Rainbow.” Now they have shared another song from the album, “It’s Gonna Hurt.” Listen below. The band has also announced some new tour dates, which are also below.
Frontman Tim Kasher had this to say about “It’s Gonna Hurt” in a press release: “This song is about watching those closest to you as they seem to deliberately self-destruct. How we find it hard to forgive them for it, but also how we carry the blame for it.”
Vitriola is the band’s first new album in six years, since 2012’s I Am Gemini. Tim Kasher still fronts the band and the new album finds him joined by returning founding drummer Clint Schnase, touring member Megan Siebe (who is the first cellist to appear on a Cursive record since 2003), longtime guitarist/singer Ted Stevens, founding bassist Matt Maginn, and keyboardist Patrick Newbery (a member since 2006).
Kasher previously had this to say to NPR about Vitriola: “I was really wanting to go back to that raw emotional feeling that I used to get, how I wrote the first couple Cursive records when I was a younger man. I would suggest that that was a little bit easier this time, with so much avarice and bile that we were all experiencing. [It] felt natural for me to just go with that.”
