Hardly sitting idly by after releasing his debut solo album Everyday Robots earlier this spring, Blur and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn has revealed that he’s begun work on a new musical. Previously responsible for two operas, Dr Dee: An English Opera and Monkey: Journey To The West, Albarn opened up about the project in a new interview with the Daily Star, saying, “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, because musicals are great when they’re done well. It started out with the same subject matter but was going to be a leftfield, experimental opera. But it’s lurched into a mainstream musical for families.’‘

Albarn also of course discussed the possibility of performing live again with Blur. “Everything is good between us all. I’m sure we’ll play again at some point,” he said. “It’d be mad to go the rest of our life and never play any of those songs again.” During the Latitude Festival last week, Albarn was actually joined onstage by Graham Coxon where they performed “Tender.” Click below to watch fan-captured footage of the mini-reunion.
