David Lynch Announces New Album, “The Big Dream”
Listen to "I'm Waiting Here" Featuring Lykke Li
Jun 03, 2013 David Lynch
Following his 2011 debut album Crazy Clown Time, legendary director David Lynch is once again delving into the world of music with his newly announced sophomore LP The Big Dream. Arriving July 15 in Europe and July 16 in the U.S. via Sacred Bones, the new record will feature 11 original songs and a cover of Bob Dyland’s “The Ballad of Hollis Brown.”
According to a press release Lynch says “most of the songs [on the album] start out as a type of blues jam and then we go sideways from there. What comes out is a hybrid, modernized form of low-down blues.”
For those that are registered users of Spotify, Lynch has shared a bonus track off the album called “I’m Waiting Here,” which features singer Lykke Li. Lynch says, “She brought her own style to this song, which has a doo-wop sort of thing going on, but in a way it’s far-removed from the 50s.”
