David Lynch Releases Electronic Single
Full Release of Remixes Due January 2011
Nov 29, 2010 David Lynch
Avant-garde film director David Lynch, who is something of a legend among the art-house scene, has returned to the realm of music with today’s release of electronic single “Good Day Today.” Lush in sound and ethereal in vibe, leave it to Lynch to take us to an other-worldly place.
The pulsating track, which crafts a vast soundscape with its dream-pop beats and soaring synthlines, was not only produced by the director but also features his vocals, albeit heavily layered. Although Lynch has often collaborated with musicians for both on and off screen projects—the latest of which being Dark Night of the Soul with Sparklehorse and Danger Mouse—“Good Day Today” marks his solo music debut.
“Good Day Today” is available for download on iTunes, paired with blues-y track “I Know.” A full-length album of remixes is slated for release in January 2011 on U.K.-based label Sunday’s Best Recordings. Listen to a stream below.
