David Lynch is very much back in the public eye with the recent return of his iconic early ‘90s TV show Twin Peaks. Now he has announced another installment of his Festival of Disruption, which last year featured St. Vincent, Sky Ferreira, Xiu Xiu, and more. The 2017 edition goes down October 14-15 at Los Angeles’ The Theatre at Ace Hotel and the lineup includes musical performances, talks, meditation sessions, and film screenings. Bon Iver (a Justin Vernon solo set), TV on the Radio, Sharon Van Etten, Reggie Watts, The Kills, and Laura Marling are all set to perform, with DJ sets from Moby and Shepard Fairey. There will also be talks conducted by Kristine McKenna with the Bill Pullman (who starred in Lynch’s Lost Highway), Sheryl Lee (Twin Peaks’ Laura Palmer), Pete Holmes, Ed Ruscha, and various Twin Peaks collaborators. There will be film screenings of Lost Highway and rare Lynch short films. Net proceeds with benefit the David Lynch Foundation.

A lot of shows have come down the pike since Cosmos I that cover a lot of the same general ground. Through The Wormhole with Morgan Freeman has been the best show on TV the last half decade. Of course I’ll give this a look and am hoping for the best but of all the programming that has been produced over the last few decades, Cosmos was among the ones least in need of a gritty reboot.
