“Deafly Describe” the New Fiery Furnaces Album

Band to Release Fan-Written “Alternate” Spoken Word Version of I’m Going Away

Writing another chapter in their avant-garde (read: weird) band history, brother-sister duo The Fiery Furnaces are harnessing early speculation about their upcoming full-length I’m Going Away (out July 21st via Thrill Jockey) by asking fans to send in their “deaf descriptions” of the album based solely on the song titles.

As the band say in their MySpace blog, the resulting misadventures in description and guessing will be compiled on a “complete fan-made, word-only, entirely unrelated, alternate version” of I’m Going Away to be released the same day as the “official version.” The blog goes on to suggest the album might be named Exclusively-Acolyte, Altered-Otherwise, Hypo-Audio, I’m Going Away.

Might.
