Post-Trash: Volume Three Out Now
Jan 24, 2018
Deerhoof
Deerhoof have covered the Madonna classic “Live to Tell” (from her 1986 album True Blue). The cover can be found on Post-Trash: Volume Three, which is a charity compilation benefitting (via Maria Fund) those in Puerto Rico affected by last year’s hurricane. Deerhoof’s version of “Live to Tell” was originally featured on a limited edition mixtape that came with Deerhoof’s 2016 album The Magic, but this is the first time it’s been more easily available online. Listen to Deerhoof’s cover below, followed by the video for Madonna’s original.
Deerhoof released a new album, Mountain Moves, last September via Joyful Noise. Previously Deerhoof shared Mountain Moves’ first three singles, “I Will Spite Survive” (which features Jenn Wasner of Wye Oak and Flock of Dimes), “Your Dystopic Creation Doesn’t Fear You” (which features Awkwafina), and “Come Down Here And Say That” (which features Stereolab’s Læticia Sadier). Mountain Moves also features Juana Molina, Xenia Rubinos, and Matana Roberts. The 15-song album features 12 originals and three covers of songs by Bob Marley, The Staple Singers, and Violeta Parra.
