Deerhunter have announced their new album and shared the first song from it. Fading Frontier is due out October 16 via 4AD. Below you can watch the video for “Snakeskin,” which is positively funky by Deerhunter standards. The album is the follow-up to 2013’s Monomania.

On Friday a countdown started on Deerhunter’s relaunched website, one that was scheduled to end on Sunday at 11 PM. At that time frontman Bradford Cox took over Atlanta’s AM 1690 radio station for two hours, via which the album was announced.
