Deerhunter made their national TV debut last night on Conan, playing a stunning version of the Halcyon Digest standout track “Helicopter.” Shrouded in smoke, the band delivered the Dennis Cooper-inspired magisterial number with typical élan. We have the full clip below.

I think there was something wrong with the way the audio was done for the performance. It sounded off for some reason. The drums were blaring and I could barely hear Bradford’s voice or the guitar.

Michael, what were you listening to it on? I had it through my actual stereo system, and it sounded good, although the drums were a bit overwhelming at times. And TV is notorious for having awful mixes. The TV on the Radio SNL performance was an especially egregious debacle.
