Depeche Mode Enter the Studio
No Solid Release Date as of Yet
May 29, 2012 Depeche Mode
Depeche Mode is currently in the studio, hulled up in New York to hammer out the follow up to 2009’s Sounds of the Universe. Says frontman Dave Gahan to Billboard, the band is “maybe a quarter of a way into working up a record.” They’re in good hands—Ben Hillier is producing with Christoffer Berg (The Knife, Fever Ray) backing him up.
While the band has admitted they’re further along in the process, with more songs at their disposal than they anticipated, don’t expect to hear anything right away. “It’s a long process,” says “We’re probably not finished til the end of the year, and we’re talking about touring next year. But right now it’s like a science lab here. We’re working in two rooms at the moment, just full of electronics and guitars and everybody’s getting very creative. It’s like a laboratory.”
