Destroyer Announces New Album, “Poison Season,” Shares New Track “Dream Lover”
Double LP Out Aug. 28
May 21, 2015 Destroyer
Destroyer, aka Dan Bejar, has announced the release of his newest album Poison Season, his first full-length work since 2011’s Kaputt. Scheduled to arrive Aug. 28, the double LP will see distribution by Merge in the U.S. and Dead Oceans in the UK. Coinciding with the record’s announcement Bejar has shared the LP’s artwork (pictured), tracklist (below), and its lead single “Dream Lover.”
The same day as Poison Season‘s due date, Bejar will release a two-song 12’‘ featuring a remix of the album’s “Forces From Above” and an orchestral version of “Times Square, Poison Season.” Different versions of the latter song are also used to open and close Poison Season. According to Bejar, “The first and last songs are actually one song tracked live with quintet. I even sang with the band. That song always swung between super austere and super mid-‘70s Springsteen/Bowie street-rock. In the end, I decided I wanted both. Couldn’t really figure out a way to sequence the orchestral version within the record, so I decided to carve it up as a book-ending motif, with the rock version squarely in the middle.”
Destroyer is poised to kick off an international tour behind the new record starting this September. Scroll down below to view the dates.
