Set to Headline Under the Radar's Second SXSW 2013 Party, Thursday, March 14 at Flamingo Cantina
Mar 10, 2013
DIIV
On March 14 Under the Radar will host the second of three free SXSW day parties. Leading up to the event we’re letting you know about each artist playing. Today we’re spotlighting headliners DIIV. In a previous post we gave you the basic party details of the party: The party happens from 12:00-6:00 PM at the Flamingo Cantina at 6th and Red River (515 E. 6th Street, Austin, TX 78701). All events are free and open to the public—no RSVPs or badges are required. Come early for free beer courtesy of Sapporo. SHURE and MailChimp are also sponsoring the event. The day’s events are sponsored by Arts & Crafts.
All drive with a hint of dream, DIIV’s debut full-length Oshin is pop for fans whose middle name is danger. Stuffed with a sense of foreboding that pierces through post-punk’s haze, their tunes are infused with enough guitars to make My Bloody Valentine sit up and take notice. But despite their C86 intentions, frontman Zachary Cole Smith and the gang still manage sneak in a few irresistible jangle-friendly elements into their wall of gloom. Buckle up—it’s a wild ride. Check out our thoughts on their debut album here, or dive into the music selection below. DIIV take the stage Thursday, March 14 at 5 PM.
