Doctor Sleep is the long-awaited sequel to The Shining and it stars Ewan McGregor as an adult version of Danny Torrrance, who in the original 1980 movie was a boy and the son of Jack Torrance (played by Jack Nicholson). Now the first trailer has been shared. Stephen King wrote the original 1977 novel The Shining and also its sequel, Doctor Sleep, in 2013, of which this is an adaptation. The trailer includes footage of Stanly Kubrick’s classic original film (which King initially wasn’t a fan of) and features Danny returning to the setting of The Shining, the creepy Overlook Hotel. Mike Flanagan (Oculus, Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House) writes and directs Doctor Sleep. The film also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Kyliegh Curran, Carl Lumbly, Zahn McClarnon, Emily Alyn Lind, Bruce Greenwood, Jocelin Donahue, Alex Essoe, and Cliff Curtis. Doctor Sleep is due out November 8 via Warner Bros.
