BBC isn’t holding back with the upcoming debut of Peter Capaldi as the time-traveling Doctor. After revealing that the season premiere will be released on Blu-ray shortly after its premiere, BBC has now announced that the episode, “Deep Breath,” will be broadcast in select theaters on August 23rd, and replayed the following Monday, August 25th, in over 500 theaters nationwide. The screening is made possible by Fathom Events, and tickets can be bought here.
In the meantime, the cast of the long-running sci-fi series will embark on a twelve city world tour to promote the new season. They’ll be landing in New York on August 14. BBC America also announced that Chris Hardwick will be hosting a pre-premiere special, Doctor Who: Live Pre-Show, as well as a follow-up Doctor Who: After Who Live. In fact, BBC America has a whole week of special Doctor Who-related programming leading up to the premiere on August 23rd.
