In new Eels video, “Baby Loves Me,” bearded leadman E, wanders around a London that appears to be straight out of our childhood fantasies…awww…sweet! Of course, with the notoriously moody troubadour, nothing is ever that innocent. As E described the aesthetics of his video to NME, “It’s my way of saying ‘Thanks for making me feel bad by accusing me of being a terrorist in Hyde Park this June. I’ll show you. I’ll make your city look like a toy.” So kids, remember: piss off E, get turned into a sweet, retro toy. Whoa.
